Each day, the Orthodox monks of Mount Atmos in Greece permit no more than two handfuls of non-Orthodox pilgrims to spend time in the thin air of their monasteries that hang halfway between heaven and earth. In this book, Jeff Skinner invites all of us to join him on a quest after the heights of both evangelism and discipleship where God’s Kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven. As you pack your bag, prepare yourself for a journey that begins from the inside out as you discover the thin places where the things of God are hidden in plain sight. In the words of the Jesuit priest and writer James Martin, Jeff’s book invites us to “keep noticing.” With Jeff as your faith-full and down-to-earth guide, you’ll have plenty to discover!

Reachable is such a hopeful and helpful book for all who care about connecting the next generation with the Good News of Jesus. Dr. Skinner writes with the love of a parent, the heart of a pastor, and the insight and passion of a church planter as he describes seven important keys to loving, mentoring, and leading the church now and into the future. This is an encouraging, understandable, and enlightening resource for all who desire to share Christ with others.

“I have such mixed feelings about what has been called, “church growth” books. The church growth movement became almost a Baal fertility cult where growth was the main thing. A few churches grew. Many others declined as methods and music were imposed on unwilling congregations This left churches confused and pastors discouraged or depressed. If you did not have a “big” church, you were a nobody while praises abounded for the new “model” churches. So, when you start talking about growth principles, some of us shudder.

“This is by no means the direction of Jeff Skinner’s book Reachable. It is filled with practical advice for discipleship making and for helping real people where the rubber meets the road. I love the sound principles, practical insights and personal illustrations that fill the pages of this book. Having been a church planter of four churches, one as pastor and three as sponsoring pastor, I know that church planting and discipleship are not easy tasks.
“I strongly recommend this book to those who are looking for workable ways of reaching the Reachable. ”

    Author and Pastor

If you are wondering whether you can continue to minister in this day and age, I encourage you to keep reading. The seven keys found in this text will inspire you, and
you will discover that they are readily accessible. Dig in, read these encouraging words
and roadmap, but then be ready to take action. First, in your own discipleship journey,
then with your congregation, and finally with those you will encounter along the way.
